Xichang Satellite Launch Center, abbreviated as XSLC or "Xichang Satellite City", is a satellite launch base in China. Founded in 1970, it is one of the four major space launch centers in China, managing and using two space launch sites, Xichang and Wenchang. The Xichang Launch Site was delivered for use in 1982 and is located in Mianning County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The Xichang launch site is located in a mountainous area and is one of the world's top ten launch sites with the most complex local climate conditions. The headquarters of the Xichang Launch Center is located in Xichang City, Sichuan Province, with a launch area located approximately 60 kilometers northwest of the city. The center has the best launch season from October to May of the following year. The launch center was built in 1983 and has launched China's first experimental communication satellite, practical communication broadcasting satellite, and practical communication satellite since 1984. In 1990, the "Asia 1" communication satellite, manufactured in the United States, was sent into a geosynchronous transfer orbit.China's first space launch center to complete 200 launches has set a new record in China's space history. From "1" to "100", it took 32 years for the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, while from "100" to "200" it only took 6 years. This is the speed of China's aerospace industry. It is also China's home port of Beidou, lunar exploration, and Tianlian
