Proxima Astarte B is a yellow dwarf star at the center of the 1242 Astarte system, it is 4.4546 light years from the Sun in the constellation Astarte. It is the nearest sun-like star, however it is bigger at over 1,450,000 km in diameter, has a surface temperature of 4,983 Kelvin and has a stellar luminosity of 2.403 solar units.
Proxima Astarte B was first discovered in 1898 by astronomer Henry Wright in Oregon. In 1991 Proxima Astarte B was photographed by the Hubble telescope, during observation twelve planets were found orbiting Proxima Astarte B, three of which were in the habitable zone.
In 2028, the Sightseer 1 probe was launched en route to Proxima Astarte B. Sightseer 1 arrived in 2032, where it studied the star and its planets.
