General Info
Talgul is the 7th planet of the Kal Tabin system, and the twin planet to Kesis. It is covered by and ocean of NH3, or Ammonia. These ammonia oceans reach depths of over 8 Kilometers. The planet also has venusian like cloud cover that looks like silk and spiderwebs. The planet is a bit smaller than Kesis, but it is more dense, and has higher surface gravity than Venus. The Aalareneans know the planet as KN-15ABh, and the other name that the Kanilans (the intelligent life on Dir Kanil) call it is Kal Tabin ABh.
Climate
The climate of Talgul is very extreem, as temperatures average at 225 Kelvin (-48.15 Celsius), with highs of 250 Kelvin (-23.15 Celsius), and with lows of 200 Kelvin (-73.15 Celsius). This is why the oceans are made of ammonia, as ammonia only freezes at 195.42 Kelvin (-77.73 Celsius). The planet does have storms. Some storms on Talgul are Typhoons, Cold Tornadoes or Snow Devils, Ammonia-Spouts (waterspouts, but with ammonia), as well as Electric Stormcells (i.e. Thunderstorms), and Blizzards. There are more storms that can form on this planet, but these are all I’m goint to mention.
Geology
The geology of Talgul is facinating! There are your usual earthquakes, tsunamis, plates, and cryovolcanoes (I will truly add cryovolcanoes later on. I simply forgot about them until I wrote the description). But there are also sometimes eruptions of solid rock. These so called Petram Eruptiones (Rock Eruptions in latin) are caused by a build-up of pressure, usually near cryovolcanically active areas, and cold material, mainly Gaseous CH4 or Methane.
Geography
The geography of Talgul is mostly the oceans of ammonia and the rock deep below it. However, there are still many islands and island groups and chains. One such chain is the Tyral Island Chain. It is made up of 8 major islands: Kyko, Leyrar, Terlos, Acumpio, Reyar, Roas, Skriso, and Osiro, all near the North Polar Ice Cap.
There is also the Seyral-Callas Island, and the Qeros Island, both in the Southern Hemisphere. In the north, there is a large ice cap. Strangley, there is no polar ice cap in the south. This is still a bit of a mystery to the scientists on Dir Kanil.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere of Talgul is composed of 80% Ammonia, 10% Nitrogen, 8% Oxygen, and 2% other compounds.
This makes the planet uninhabitable to life similar to that on Earth, Alarene, and Dir Kanil. It has a density of 6.3 Kg-m3, or 6,300 G-m3. Over 5 times that of Earth.
Biology
The Biology of Talgul is quite interesting and diverse. There are large terrestrial organisims that look like scorpions known as Deltaraaks, which can grow up to 17.5 m wide, 35 m long, and weigh up to 35 tons. In the oceans, there are flying fish like organisims known as Acrelants that are similar to whales in behavior and their ecological niche. They can grow up to 110 m long, have a wingspan up to 130 m wide, and can weigh up to 370 tons. The current known number of species on Talgul are at least 700 different, unique, and fascinating species of organisims.
Conclusion
The planet of Talgul is an inhospitable planet of cold and ammonia, but to it’s life, it is a protecting home to them, and is one of the strangest, most interesting, and down right mysterious worlds in the Kal Tabin Trinary System.
