After the terraformation of Luna, humanity set Mars as its next target to terraform. Because of its greater gravity, this medium sized world can retain an atmosphere without the frequent bombardment of comets. This planet’s weak magnetic field however necesitates the import of CO2 from Venus. Only recently has the atmosphere become thick enough and warm enough for one to walk outside with only an oxygen mask.
The growing population on Luna and the ever-growing demand for more land incentivized humanity to claim this once red world as its new primary government center. As the population grew more, the inhabitants of Mars became more divided and opinionated. All this internal division led to Venus becoming the new prime target for terraforming. Humanity has now spread to other celestial bodies around Sol.
