When I was playing "that other space-sim game" it always bothered me how you could place an air intake anywhere on your craft and have your engines working perfectly no matter what. So when the time comes for jet engines to be implemented, could you make a system that requires the engine and its air intake to be connected? A good way of doing this would be to make them into a single part, where shape tool could be used to move the intake around semi-independently just like the ends of fuel tanks.

In KSP you could place an intake on one wing and an engine on the other. In the Corsair air intake almost directly in front of the engine. -
... except air intakes CAN be placed almost anywhere on an aircraft as long as the air is ducted to the front of the compressor turbine. Look at an A-7 Corsair II. The intake is forward and below the cockpit and connected to the front of the engine some 15 feet behind the cockpit through a duct running under the cockpit. The most drastic example of this is found on naval ships that use jet engines to produce electrical power. The generator can be located anywhere inside the ship and both intake and exhaust is routed through duct work somewhere above the main deck.

Or you could tick a box on fuel tanks Called... Air flow (like fuel line) or something along those lines.
@bartekkru100 : I understand the engineering absurdity. In KSP you can mount the radial intake to a fuel tank, mounted to a radial decoupler, and it supplies air to the engine mounted to another fuel tank mounted to another radial decoupler. In reality, you could actually do this as long as the intake has ducting going to the engine. It certainly is not practical and ducting the air flow tends to restrict the volume and velocity of the air to the compressor, but it's not an impossible configuration.
The point is, if you think a certain feature in KSP or this game is unrealistic, don't use it. Design your craft as realistic or un-realistic as makes you happy.
If it's an unrealistic feature the game forces you to use, then let's make suggestions to improve it.
