@AndrewGarrison I tried setting detail to 0 and they're still there, so it may not be related to the normal

Dev Notes: Maybe exposing the normal smoothing angle would help with this?

This definitely looks like a normal calculation issue. The normal recalculation can have trouble when one end of a fuselage is zero size in one or both dimensions.
