Generating energy out of rocket/jet fuel

I would vote for a reversible fuel cell, it can use hydrogen and oxygen to make electricity or water and electricity to make oxygen and hydrogen.
Some fuel cells also work with methane/hydrogen, but the ones that are reversible need some extra input of waste heat like solid oxide fuel cells.
