try Painting an entire fairing striped, with two lines of one color, and two of the other. when you get to the cone of the fairing, it should have weird stripes.

Really?
Two an a half years since this bug was reported. I understand that such a small problem has a low priority, but it should take maybe 10 minutes to solve this issue.
