The only problem that may appear is what speed to use because iirc the game only knows the speed relative to the parent planet, but since the difference between speed relative to the sun and any planet is not that big (in terms of c) and not much people is going to push the game so far it may be a decent enough aproximation

Some months ago I discussed with @AnotherFireFox in this suggestion how to solve this.
After talking with some friends that studied physics the conclusion may be even easy to implement! Just a mass multiplier speed dependant. The faster you go the more mass you have to push (and to slow down). This can easily solve max speed problems and make SR2 more realistic without the need of relativistic time effects
@AstronautPlanes Although that would be funny, that is a bad idea. It could ruin some people's stuff
At light speed, the game could "intentionally crash", and report: "Don't go FTL next time!"

We can either enforce the speed limit or make time go backwards.
