Inline docking ports, which would stick out from side of the fuselage (like in the NASA Space Shuttles).

I'm not sure if it's necessary, because it probably can be achieved using some hacks with positioning, but maybe it would be easier to have a part for this (especially for usage in craft which don't have a cargo bay).
KSP had a part like this, but maybe SimpleRockets 2 could have more universal one and optionally let it use the same door as Cargo Bay. For comparison, this is how KSP did it, but I think the real space shuttle concept is better and more universal:

@AndrewGarrison I know i’m 5.8 years late, and can’t provide an image, but I think OP was talking about inline docking ports similar to the inline clamp-o-trons in KSP. Hope this helps :)
