You're right, we need to do something about it, but at least there is a workaround for players that experience this issue.

@AndrewGarrison I think adding that setting is worthwhile. Here’s why: If one needs to set control surfaces manually, one must also break symmetry, and manually invert one of the control surfaces. At that point, having the auto setting is basically pointless, and it adds a lot of unnecessary work.
Also, since the game does not use this recalculation to adjust the control surface responses in real time in response to CoM change, the only thing this can do is irreversibly modify someone’s craft after launch to act in a way they didn’t design. I can’t imagine why any player would ever want that behaviour, and the only way I can see it as anything other than guaranteed frustration would be if you could manually change it back while in flight.

The wings are set to Auto, which means they will try to calculate their axis of contribution. When you reload the quicksave, the game is recalculating the axis of greatest contribution which is now different since the CoM of the craft has changed because it has burned fuel since its launch. We could add a setting to prevent recalculating the CoM during flight, but you can accomplish the same thing by manually assigning those control surfaces to roll in the designer so they won't recalculate during flight.
