Now that you (devs) have managed to make the landing gear's bay disable the mesh of the fuselage it's inside of, why not add an option to do that for air intakes so that the intake can run clean through any part (primarily fuel tank or strut) without having to spend hours approximating the shape around the intake (or even be used just to make holes in stuff...). This could also increase the intake capacity to 100%. Potentially max fuel in tank could be recalculated...

Another thing that I am not sure about is what happens at supersonic speeds. Jet engines need diffusers to reduce the flow to subsonic speeds. This drastically reduces the intake cross sectional surface area. Could the occlusion increase supersonic efficiency of the engines? Is there a specific consideration in the physics engine for supersonic (and hypersonic) compressibility or is that too complicated and would that drastically reduce performance of the game?

Just thoughts...
I hope I was clear enough...

@MethaManAircraft Sure thing. I think this would make builds a lot less tedious. I had a similar idea about a structural air frame that we could run the intakes through, but this might be easier for the devs.
