I started the orbit Droo tutorial and went through the steps to create the rocket. when it then gets to the launchpad the program has forgotten that i am doing the tutorial so dont get the instructions to stage or set angle etc. I have watched videos to try and follow but am doing something wrong as I cant reach the periapsis with the settings in the tutorial. I am disapointed with this game as it cant do the basics.

I think this is exactly what happened. I had multiple contract accepted which is why i tried again by cancelling the other contracts.
So technically this is a bug where if you have multiple contracts accepted then the tutorials don't always play.
I had a simitar issue previously where I had multiple contracts accepted and I was trying to do a sideways contract but the tutorial was prompting me to blow up the rocket to complete the firework contract. Got very confusing.
So the fix/workaround is - if you are attempting a contract which has a tutorial dont accept any other contracts until its completed?

@ferdy99 insane timing right there, I just got someone over Discord with the same issue and figured out what was happening!
.
Did you launch a craft of your own or attempted any other contract with the orbit one accepted? That would skip the tutorial step and save the progress, so by the time you launched the orbit tutorial craft, the tutorial step was already passed -

@ferdy99 I can't find a way to reproduce the issue of not getting prompts in flight, I'll keep an eye to see if anyone else runs into this problem

Hi Pedro, Apologies if i didnt explain correctly.
I accepted the contract/mission and started the tutorial which goes through the steps to modify the pre-built rocket. It then goes to the launch pad and at this point the tutorial no longer gives any prompts.
As I said before I eventually got it into orbit and completed the contract. So I no longer have the contract active.

@ferdy99 Sorry, I misunderstood your problem. So the tutorial isn't triggering at all? Do you have the orbit contract accepted?

Hi Pedro, I can get all the way to top but run out of fuel trying to circularize. I need about 2% more fuel to complete. It looks like the craft is designed to be used with the tutorial so if I don't get prompts on when to stage, which angle to point at then i will struggle. Velocity mode is set to surface.
im sure this rocket works with the tutorial but my issue is that the tutorial is not working for me so I am not able to get the rocket to orbit.
Because with the game we cant create multiple save profiles i cant even start a new game to see if the tutorial kicks in when launching.

@ferdy99 there is some margin of error, following the tutorial should get you to an 80x500+ km orbit. Did you stage the 1st stage before running out of all fuel and have the velocity mode set to surface when locking prograde? I have done the tutorial dozens of times and it got me to orbit every single time

Yes, Did all the tweaks to the rocket as instructed. I didn't modify any other settings. I also did not close /exit the tutorial. I thought it might be getting confused with multiple accepted missions so tried again by cancelling all active missions but still the same.
The rocket that this tutorial asks to be built has a very small margin of error so its really difficult to get it into orbit unless the tutorial guides. I have played KSP many hundreds of hours so I know the basics of what is required to get to orbit.
I eventually did get into orbit without the tutorial but it was not a good experience.
thanks

@ferdy99 You can have other contracts accepted, but you have to do the tutorial one as soon as you take it
