Parachutes are extremely fundamental in capsule landings and even in planes.
You could select the type of canopy (round canopy, squared canopy or square rounded canopy)
Also adjust the size of the central hole that would increase or decrease drag, with this drogue chutes would be possible.
One last thing but an important one, is adjust the angle of deployment, with this multiple chutes wouldn't touch each other.

Too bad still the Chutes needed to touch together because of game engine, if they managed to do that, bugs and slowdown will appear as the game is trying not to overlap each other

Parachutes should also have AGL based deployment altitudes, the astronaut’s worst nightmare is deployment 10 meters above ground.
Also an option to manually deploy the chutes for landing fighter, transport and experimental jets.
