@AndrewGarrison part validation would be amazing, and would work well with the way current engine part assignments work. As for tanks not autoassigning through fuel adapters, I think the way it is now works very well because it prevents the tank from autoassigning again if a player mistakenly places an engine of a different fuel type on that tank, so having only one primary engine on the tank assigning the fuel type is a great way to prevent this from happening.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank you again for taking the time out of your schedule to answer matters like this to your players, The fact that you and the other devs take the time to communicate with the players makes this one of the best communities I've been a part of over the years.

I actually didn't realize that fuel tanks weren't auto-assigning fuel type when connected to via a fuel adapter. They probably should, at least I think that was my intention when I was implementing that a while back.

I was thinking it would be nice to have part validation and parts could highlight themselves red in the designer if there is a problem. Engines could check if they had fuel available and if not they could spit out a message (when clicked on) indicating that they need a fuel tank.

@AndrewGarrison imho and point-of-view as a player, if I were building an aircraft (same goes for a battery-powered craft), and I place a jet engine (or RCS) on a tank, while there are no other types of engines on the tank, and it doesn't autoassign as occurs with all other engines, it can be seen as a bug (I do understand this is intended).

Consider another scenario, if you place a rocket engine on a tank, the tank will correctly autoassign itself to the engine's fuel type, but if you use a fuel adapter this will not happen, nor will placing anymore engines on the original tank reassign the tank. Most players by extension will understand this is why in the case of jet engines/rcs, they will need a completely different tank for jets/rcs anyway.

Again, I do understand what you're saying, although it unintentionally comes across as a bug to me as a player. Just my two cents. Thank you for responding to my post :D

@Kell is correct. This is by design as it's hard to know which fuel tanks should be auto-assigned to jet or mono fuel types.

@KraZIvan The problem is that since they draw fuel from anywhere, it is hard to know which specific tank(s) will be converted to hold that fuel, and most of the time they would already be holding some form of rocket fuel for the rocket engines.

@Kell except when not placed in a rocket as in the case of aircraft or satellites. The issue here is not that the fuel is not fed to the part, instead the issue being that the fuel tank does not autoassign. When an RCS or jet engine is placed, as was described in the bug report.

RCS thrusters and jet engines can draw their fuel from anywhere in the rocket
