Side interstages or any other interstage cannot be re-attached, and docking ports are too weak for carrying things in atmosphere. My suggestion would essentially be a side interstage that can be re-attached, or some sort of high-strength docking port

@SoulBlazer huh, yeah I even tried putting the stability modifier to max level on both docking ports, and my craft, a vtol jet, wasn't able to lift a 9000kg truck under it without the docking ports separating and the truck swinging around like it was on a rope

@Arstotzka yeah, essentially, something strong enough that can carry something heavy under a helicopter, for example

@SoulBlazer depends how you use them. Sadly docking ports can't be reconnected on the same craft, yet
