I believe from past experiences that the water starts to glitch when one is a far distance away (eg. In the air, zooming out on ground level, ect.). As one travels closer, the glitching appears to be localised on a nearby area in relation to the craft.

@pedro16797 I think z-fighting on the coastlines has been improved, but I don't think it will ever be fixed. Its probably some type of zfighting in this case as well, but I thought the screenshot looked a bit different from the typical zfighting effects I see. Maybe not, I dunno.

@NathanMikeska I've seen that in the past, I thought it was a combination of z-fighting and partially unloaded terrain. With very low LOD distance the water transparency may add the cyan intermediate layer (in this case it's set to LOD 3).
