As an experienced SimplePlanes user, I'm mostly focusing on building mechanics and aircraft controls on SR2. So far, it's far from impressive. The biggest problem I have encountered is the lack of keyboard shortcuts in the editor. Shortcuts I'm regularly using on SP and missing the most on SR2 are:
- Ctrl+M - mirrors the selected part. Would activate mirror symmetry for the selected part/assembly on SR2.
- Ctrl+L - load aircraft whose URL you have copied. Would do the same with craft/sandbox on SR2.
- Shift+K - reconnects the selected part. Would do the same on SR2.
- Q,W,E,A,S,D - rotate selected part 90°. Would rotate part/assembly by selected increment on SR2.
- Shift+Q,W,E,A,S,D - nudges selected part. Would nudge part/assembly by selected increment on SR2.
- Double left click - opens menu for editing fuselage block. Would open "Part Shape Tool" for selected part.
- Backspace - deletes selected part. Currently, Delete button does that, but Backspace is closer to the rest of the used keyes, making it more handy.
All of these things can be done without keyboard shortcuts, of course. But that makes building far more boring than in SP, and it takes a lot more time and clicking. I might be missing some shortcuts, as I'm pretty sure I'm not using all of them. My opinion and suggestions about flight controls will be in a separate post, as I don't want to clog this one.
Finally added CTRL+V to load a sandbox or craft from any scene.
