There can be a option in the designer to change the electric motor from a regular on to one that can charge a battery when the motor is being rotated. To make it more realistic it can be set to not be a one to one like it wont be possible to to put a motor on on your wheel to get 100% battery back. There can also be a feature if the motor is spinning to long or above a rpm it will over heat until it brakes and stop collecting electricity or until it explode .

yea like use it as a motor-generator like in the toyota prius or in any electric vehicle that uses regenerative braking

This will be good for temporarily using energy at night for extra rang on your rover

I've suggested something similar before. Thought on using it on electric aircraft when braking with the propeller motor (a very effective way to brake btw).
