Exhaust bloom in a vacuum expands in a spherical shape regardless (for all practical purposes) of vehicle velocity or normal acceleration. The challenge would be to transition from the normal "trail" exhaust at sea level air pressure to the spherical exhaust plume in a vacuum. Again, what we see in games and movies is purely Hollywood and not based on reality.

Seems like the plumes are much improved in 0.7, but the vacuum plumes aren't quite right to @kell standards.

I would like to see this implemented and would like to point out that the expansion of the exhaust IS something that happens in reality. I also think it's funny that in figure 4 of that image, they seem to completely forget how basic Newtonian physics work.

@swope I think the look/optimization is pefect now, the exhaust could look much better with more particles but the current approach seems pretty efficient for low end pcs and mobiles
