They seem very uh.. light. I think they're made of plastic, they must be! 7 whole kg for a 50% landing leg.

Well... define 'plastic'. SpaceX uses carbon-fibre landing legs which are much lighter than any metal. Carbon-fibre is just carbon reinforced resin which could be considered 'plastic' by commoners. You wouldn't believe the force a properly designed, 7kg carbon-fibre leg could withstand
