How important is space exploration for human development? What is more important: space exploration, exploration of the Earth from space or research in space? Do we need research stations in orbit/Moon/Mars? And what can we get from this?

@Ethan13 live there. They don’t need to be airborne there.

@SoulBlazer Very cool description. But for some reason, manned missions to the Moon and Mars are already planned. It seems to me that this is too hasty. Have you heard anything about Ingenuity flights? If a helicopter cannot fly there, then what will people do there?

I would say yes, because if we want to go places more efficiently, we must to in-space construction to get to other planets and eventually stars. It would also be good just to have stations on their own, because what the Curiosity Mars Rover did. over the span of almost 9 years, a human could do in a month or two. This would also bring long term enemies together for prosperity for both. We go to space to improve life on Earth. Why not also place life other places, so we have a backup?

Currently, the most realistic option is a plasma engine. There was news recently that scientists at the Princeton Laboratory of Plasma Physics have found a way to create it. If everything works out, then such an engine can accelerate space travel by 10 times. It would be great.

@Ethan13 with enough research we could develop more powerful and more efficient engines that could allow us to travel great distances in short times to never run out of resources. If humans could keep moving then there would be no reason for war or hate other than what humans would do normally on Earth. But the Earth will be drained one day. Eventually all that will remain is humans unless something else arises.

@Tweedle_Aerospace Interesting opinion. Do you really think that such a warlike species like humans can live forever and not destroy themselves? I love the idea of space exploration, but I'm afraid it could lead to a new kind of resource war.
I really hope that a more peaceful and colourful future awaits us.
Now, perhaps the more pressing problem will be Kessler's syndrome or something similar. Although recently scientists have said that negative energy is not needed to create a warp drive. Maybe new research will lead to something revolutionary.

@Arstotzka but we don’t fully understand how to survive on them. And it won’t exactly go wel if the entire human race decided to show up on a planet that turns out not to be habitable like we thought.

Space exploration. Exploring Earth will be pointless other than to get a better understanding of the world around us. But space exploration will assist us in living in any conditions and how humans will survive extinction events. It could help make humans live for ever. At least in terms of the species.
