What's the difference between an airplane and a rocket in game? If I opt an airplane to build, it won't be able to go to the space or what?

@SoulBlazer thanks) I was thinking of building a spaceplane with jet engines and wing lifting craft in atmosphere and rocket engines, where's no atmosphere. Is it also better to opt rocket?

Basically what @Hermes01000100 said. They are the same thing with an extra PID and a different base model.

Airplane has a PID for roll, and is oriented horizontally. Rocket does not have a PID for roll, and is oriented vertically. The PIDs are also set to different values that work better depending on what you're going for. You can have an "airplane" go into space
