I have been working on the Sparrow 3 v0.9 for a very long time, and ran into many problems, but I can finally say that I am releasing it on Wednesday, August 18. You can look at this post to see all of the features it has, including an entirely new ascent program, a booster catch mechanism, and much more.

    @StarshotSpaceCo I have not decided yet, but I am definitely going to improve the program on the booster so that it does not make that giant turn as soon as the landing burn starts. I also might change the launch tower so it can adjust to catch the booster right in the middle, and then lower the booster to the ground.

    @AR3SZX It does have a command chip. I kind of worded my last response in a way that sounded like it doesn’t have one, but it does.

    @TweedleAerospace That’s true.

    @DrexxVolv a catch mechanism is very hard to get lined up well.

    @JSO18 ouh...why dont you put a command chip on the booster though?
    That would make the control a lot more easier

    @TweedleAerospace Docking doesn’t take long, as long as you line it up correctly.

    @AR3SZX It would not disappear, but it would clip through the catch arms and fall and blow up since it would be out of the physics range.

    @TweedleAerospace I am still working on that system most likely it will be in the next release of the Sparrow 3 unless I can get it working in two days. I decided to release this without that system for now because it has been so long and it will only take longer to add that system, and very few people actually are going to do something with the booster after it lands, so it does not actually matter if the booster survives past the point where it lands safely. At this point landing the booster is all just for show. Once there is a career mode it will be important but for now I think it is fine to just let the booster fall and blow up after switching away.

    Any craft that have at least one command chip wouldn't disappear.@TweedleAerospace
    And I think the booster probably have one .

    @DrexxVolv yes but it will still fall through the ground if suspended in the air. If it is caught by the launch pad craft than the only way to keep it there is to either dock it which takes forever or to set it down.

    @TweedleAerospace There is this debris option in Tinker, allowing you to keep it in the map, even after getting far from it.

    How does catch not delete the booster? Do you set the booster down before switching?
