i was bored so yes. be sure to grab a snack cause this might get long and boring.
Zenithspeed's custom lore for the SR2 Juno System
All material listed here is fictional and only applies to the stock game's system; player-made expansions and revamps of it will differ in lore.
The story starts off in an alternate universe similar to our own; here, the total energy is much lower, and thus star systems are more compact together and planetary bodies are also smaller: for instance, the current Droo's radius is 1/5th that of our Earth. There were many different collisions throughout time, and the asteroid belts are extremely empty, now for the interesting part, the planets.
VULCO
Compared to Mercury, Vulco is smaller of course, and is also fully tidally locked to Juno, whereas Mercury is in a spin resonance with the Sun. A notable feature of Vulco is that the star-facing side is completely covered in lava, making it a hot eyeball planet. The other side is solid volcanic rock covered in endless darkness and of course colder due to the tidal locking.
SERGEAA
The atmosphere is green rather than yellow due to a different substance, that being chlorine perchlorate, present in gas form. Although the surface temperature is around the same, Sergeaa's atmosphere is much thinner (although still very difficult to get through), at around 1/4 the amount of Venus (15 kg/m3 vs ~67 kg/m3). It also spins much, much slower, making the times of day feel like an eternity.
DROO
In the alternate universe, the habitable world we know has different continents, more defined biomes and is chock-full of harvestable energy; as such, interplanetary and even interstellar travel could be unlocked much earlier than in our current time. Humans, or, in-game Droods, have become much more resilient to falls and other impacts, although their technology can still fail and get destroyed at times.
As for the moons, Droo has 2 natural ones (Brigo and Luna) and one captured moon, TT. Brigo is an icy and dirty moon covered in horizontal streaks and a massive crater at the north pole, resembling the Death Star from our world's famous Star Wars franchise. On the other hand, Luna is the traditional moon with grey regolith and black maria, and it has even been colonized with a small base operating near its southern pole. TT is a captured asteroid in a retrograde orbit, with a very low albedo across its dark red and black surface covered by lighter-colored craters.
CYLERO
The red, cold, and dusty "dream vacation land" that is Mars is relatively unchanged in the alternate universe, apart from different locations of the terrain features. It is also notably flatter and has less mountains, but most notably the polar ice caps are also much larger.
Phobos and Deimos, or in this case Niobe and Herma, are also quite similar, although the size difference and different crater placements are still present. They're also much further away than their respective counterparts.
THE GAS GIANTS
Here's where stuff gets chaotic. Planets get merged, moons get transferred, so on and so forth.
It started with Tydos completely eating up that version of Saturn, while Urados ate up large parts of Saturn as well, and completely engulfed that version of Neptune.
The moons were also affected, and to great extents. Nebra (Io) was one of the only moons that have stayed in their orbits, but even then, the volcanic activity was elevated to a such level that makes it look like it's in the habitable zone, with a moderately dense atmosphere, oceans of water, small islands, and a bearable surface temperature. Miros (Iapetus) was directly stolen from Saturn to Tydos, and so was Orcus (Triton) all the way from Neptune, with their orbits all being prograde again. Boreas (Europa) was tossed out and caught by Urados, same happened to Taurus (Titan). Hypatchion (Hyperion) was also flung to Urados.
As the "gas giant wars" continued on, Urados absorbed Saturn's larger rings, using the smaller rings of its own to paint it a greyish-blue, and its axial tilt was greatly reduced as well.
Pluto and the other dwarf planets were completely ejected out of the system, with who knows which stars caught them as rogue celestial bodies.
As a result, this is the Juno System we get today. But, what if you wanted to play back when everything was stable? And why did i even waste my time writing this?
Well, that's exactly why i'm making AJS. It will essentially be prior to how i described the above mentioned situations, with analogues for Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto, as well as many of their respective moons present, along with new terrain and stuff to spice up the user experience. Coming sometime soon.
very nice, Sergeaa is more than hot enough to boil it so it makes perfect sense
