(NOTE: THIS IS A BIG POST CONTAINING MULTIPLE PARTS AND MAY NOT BE FINISHED IN TIME)
I've decided to make a story for this one, featuring scientists on Merak and Rachtus, as well as the Zenith himself. I'm generally not good at storytelling, but hey, screw it, i'm gonna do it anyways.
Do note that any of the names that are featured are completely made up and any resemblence to similar real-life names are unintentional and coincidental.
PART 1: Out Of Here
Rachtus, Sector Gamma, Malko Sensor Outpost
Mr. Adobyan: We're detecting strange seismic activity approximately 300 km below the surface.
Ms. Taria: Rachtus is known for that. Are you sure it's something special?
Adobyan: Yes, they don't seem as smooth as the usual subsurface movements.
*large sudden earthquake-like shake*
Adobyan: WHAT'S GOING ON?? THIS IS COMPLETELY INSANE!
Taria: We need to get everyone out here, quickly! *calls the others on radio*
Sector Alpha, Main Base
Mr. Kerlos: We've recieved your messages, Malko Sensor Outpost team. Based on orbital analysis, Rachtus' eccentricity has wildly been altered, and is predicted to soon escape the system. Contact all other sectors and tell them to all meet at the Sector Beta Launch Complex, a Megalodon C2 craft is standby waiting there.
Adobyan: Got it, sir.
some time later...
Kerlos: All equipment has been secured and all of our buildings have been compacted to fit inside the Megalodon C2 spacecraft. All personnel are loaded, it is unfortunate that we must leave this planet and return back to Merak. As of right now, Rachtus is on an escape trajectory out of Mortan. With all artificial heating systems removed, it is now a frozen wasteland like it was before it was colonized.
*craft takes off, leaves atmosphere and heads to Merak, using Vantormia as a gravity slingshot on the way home...*
PART 2: Intriguing Pictures
Merak Space Facility Main Building
Mr. Waltzer: I'm glad everyone made it back here to our secondary "home". Although Rachtus has completely escaped the system, it did lead us to an exciting new discovery: there's a new planet that orbits beyond Mraz.
Adobyan: What do we know about it?
Waltzer: The planet is a cold gas giant, with at least 3 moons. Karostus was captured by it in a retrograde orbit. The only reason why we even knew it existed is because Rachtus' bright poles ejected some material into it, making it somewhat more visible. Take a look at this picture our telescope took of it.
Taria: It seems to have large rings. How big are they?
Waltzer: We don't know the exact sizes yet, but it may be larger than that of Spinar's system. It also has a gas moon which is strangely in a retrograde orbit, it also has rings but much smaller. Here's the picture of it too.
Mr. Kollmann: We've just recieved new images of the planet. Most of its moons can be seen, along with an abnormally bright blue light that is too bright to be a moon but too dim to be a star.
Waltzer: Let me take a look... Ah, the only thing this bright that far away is a Zenith craft. Most background stars were dimmed in the picture, right?
Kollmann: Yes, they were. On the next picture we can see the blue glow slightly larger, indicating it is coming towards us.
*sudden incoming radio call message*
Radio: ZENITH HERE, REQUESTING PERMISSION TO LAND AT MSF RUNWAY.
Waltzer: Go on ahead, we let you do this without asking already.
Zenith (Radio): Yes, I know. I just wanna make sure that the others don't think I'm doing something wrong. I'll be at the main building in a while.
PART 3: Back With A Surprise
Merak Space Facility Main Building
Adobyan: Welcome back from your usual deep space journey. Anything interesting you found?
Zenith: There's some interesting stuff I've found, yes, but I'm sure you're all interested about Ravan shown on screen. I went by while coming back to take a closer look since it changed quite a lot.
Taria: Ravan? Where did that come from?
Zenith: I do put these planets in my catalogue and name them, after all that's where this entire system got its names from. So, where do we start?
Waltzer: Anywhere you wish, really.
Taria: To be fair, we would like to know more about Ravan's rings.
Zenith: Oh, yes. The rings. They're like, twice as big as those of Spinar. They're faint due to mostly being icy and rocky asteroids from the Outer Disk, but they are still quite visible.
Adobyan: And, what about the moons?
PART 4: He Knows Too Much
Merak Space Facility Main Building
Zenith: Ravan has four major moons, and millions of little rocks as rings. The innermost moon is Nyr, a large body with a dense atmosphere and cryovolcanic activity. It does supply some material to Ravan's outer rings as it is quite close, and the view is quite spectacular.
Adobyan: Seems familiar...
Zenith: It is quite similar to Titan, to be fair, however it has more of a blueish hue, and more detailed clouds rather than just a yellow haze.
Kerlos: It must be wild to be on there.
Zenith: If you want to, I can go there in my spare time and take some pictures, I still have some stuff I need to do.
Kerlos: Alright, what about the second moon?
Zenith: Polinia. An icy moon, it also has an atmosphere, however it is quite thin in comparison to the others. The surface is also wildly cracked, so landing spots are quite hard to find in most cases.
Adobyan: We've seen Karostus being captured by Ravan in a retrograde orbit, anything about that?
Zenith: Just the same old Karostus, really. What's even more interesting is that the exotic vegetation found there has survived the temperature drop.
Kollmann: We've found a particularly small moon in an eccentric orbit, but still large enough to be detected.
Zenith: That's Kearul. Small asteroid thing, pretty bulbous from what I've seen.
Waltzer: There's one large gas moon of Ravan, what about that?
Zenith: I've named it Zudra. It orbits retrograde and has a ring system, smaller and brighter than that of Ravan. It has a submoon called Chalucra, which has a tenuous exosphere of gases that block out distant stars sometimes, making it a good spot for observing just the planetary system.
Taria: Thanks for the detailed explanation. Waltzer, is there a craft ready to send some investigators to Ravan?
Waltzer: Not yet. There's a Megalodon C3 in underground storage which could be used, but it is reportedly having some issues.
Zenith: I might be able to use the big boi Giganerus, but currently I've left it run around Sirodis to get pictures of Utopia, a superhab-
Adobyan: SUPERHABITABLE PLANET???
Zenith: Yeah, why?
Waltzer: We've been looking for one for ages, but you finally found one. Could you bring us there once you have time?
Zenith: Sure thing, I'm going to explore and send pictures of Ravan and its moons now. See you later.
*Zenith gets into his SV80 and blasts off, leaving Merak's atmosphere and heads straight for Ravan using small Hyperspeed bursts...*
So, that was the story, pretty boring, i know. i don't know how scientists actually talk to each other, but i'm not going for accuracy anyways, so yeah.
