would be cool to shoot people with like a lazer

@AstronautPlanes
I think Jundroo would want to keep it "civil n' chill" with SR2, but I think we can expect a weapons mod down the line. -

I think that Jundroo will not add weapons... But if mods exists... Probably someone will add that.

I wouldn't underestimate laser technology, it will get better and better. The US military is experimenting with laser technology as we speak, especially with Lockheed Martin. They've already developed a ground/ship-based laser turret "ATHENA" which has already conducted shoot-down tests against drones, and Lockheed Martin also mounted a laser turret aboard a private jet and the USAF wants them to build a compact laser for future fighters. And lasers don't have to totally obliterate their targets out of existence. Lasers can simply cause enough damage to the target that renders it inoperable, like during the drone shoot down tests, the laser was always targeting a control surface such as a tail to send the drone out of control which eventually crashed. I think lasers will work in multiple modes of fire, such as firing at a lower setting just enough to wreck havoc on electronics of the target, or it could use a more higher setting that renders the whole target inoperable, or it could waste all of it's energy in a single blast that destroys the target completely. -

Well guns, missiles, bombs, rockets, etc. can still be added into SR2 for those who want to build atmosphere-bound aircraft.But for space craft, I would LOVE to see lasers and railguns, and maybe even pulse/EMP-weapons.

Who needs weapons when you have rockets?
Just add some more fuel, there you go, a big flying space bomb. -

no air in space
no explosions in space
no guns
and frickin lazer beams are reserved for other stuff
The Soviets did put a 23mm cannon on a space station and test fired it remotely at least three times.
"In addition to reconnaissance equipment, Almaz was equipped with a unique 23mm Rikhter (factory index 261P or 225P) rapid-fire cannon mounted on the forward belly of the station. This revolver cannon was modified from the tail-gun of the Tu-22 bomber and was capable of a theoretical rate of fire of 1800-2000 (up to 2600) rounds per minute. Each 168 gram (ammo 23-OFZ-D-R ) or 173 gram (ammo 23-OFZ-G-R) projectile flew at a speed of 850 m/s relative to the station. The cannon was tested at the end of the mission by firing 20 rounds, when the station was operating in unmanned mode. To aim the cannon, which was on a fixed mounting, the entire station would be turned to face the threat. The Almaz series are the only known armed, crewed military spacecraft ever flown."
"Salyut 3/OPS-2 conducted a successful remote test firing with the station unmanned due to concerns over excessive vibration and noise."
