Hello good people. I've been trying to make concept VTOL craft. I have had no joy with that for the past two days I've been trying with no success. I wanted to have a craft that can rise steadily vertically but all my trials, the craft toples over either by pitching forwards or backwards. I've been trying with jet engines though. I'm now thinking that perhaps Rocket Engines would be better since they're throttlable. And the VTOL crafts I've downloaded from the site to try to get am understanding of things all have very thick and heavy Vizzy that I don't have time to learn and understand.

Any notes on how to make a stable Jet Engine powered VTOL with very little minimalist Vizzy would really be appreciated.

@HoverArrow Thanks, really appreciate it. Will look into it just now 😊.

@HoverArrow Thanks HoverArrow, appreciate it. Was now thinking of using Propellers. Would still need to figure out some Vizzy. Just that I don't have much time to learn and also I don't come from a Computing or Programming background, so Vizzy for me doesn't come as easy to understand.

@plane918273645 Thanks for the suggestion. Will try to figure it out.

It’s all about balance really, you gotta account for the moment created by the force of gravity, so centre of lift then distance to centre of mass multiplied by force, and that’s the resultant moment. Too counter this you have to throttle your engines more in the direction the moment is, and less in the opposing direction. It’s a pretty difficult thing to do. And to be completely honest I failed at doing that XD and I ended up using a radially symmetric design@MasterOfNone

@SamTheFox Yes lift forces always on for me.

@ReturnofSlav Thanks ReturnofSlav, but figuring all that out will need time and that's what I'm trying to work against. Just the need of time. If only there was a way to make time. It's just working through family, work, life, mental health, there isnt too much time left. Wish I had come across this game when I was younger and my head was clearer and I felt much smarter then, then really I'd maybe have mastered Vizzy. But I'll try to give it time and do it by your suggestions, they're really great by the way, thanks.

did you turn on lift forces?

@SamTheFox Thanks Sam, been trying that, not working for me. Thinking it might be my PC's problem. It's quite low spec so at times it doesn't simulate physics right.

Multiple engines pointing down. Each one has a very simple script to throttle based on bank or pitch, depending on location as well as inputs to alter bank and pitch as desired for some sweet drifting.
If you want to get really fancy, throw in some tilting engines, but you will have to account for torque when placing more engines.

you don't even need vizzy, just mirror two engines on the horizontal axis of the craft's center of mass

you can see the center of mass by clicking the eyeball icon and clicking on the red ball
