I've found that sr2 only renders ray casting from the singular central body, unlike ksp where it can render visuals from multiple bodies, another issue this cause for some damn reason, and I'm not even sure why this happens, but the shadows for moons don't cut when behind a planet. I just recommend that they use multi-body ray casting so binary systems perform with correct visuals, and moons of large size orbiting gas Giants actually get proper darkness.
