I'm trying to do the "Commercial Pilot" contract, and I simply don't understand how one is supposed to drop a payload from a plane on to the mountain that the Hippolita Ground Station is on.

Has anyone completed this and can tell me what I'm missing?

i managed it after a failed attempt since i forgot to wait until day lmao. Get your craft (plane, make sure the cargo can get out) to have reverse thrust, great breaks and traction, and 2 drogue chutes and you can make it. I used a Droo after landing a bit down the mountain to slowly hoist the plane up to the station. You need at least 35 delta V it would seem

    @Toinkove I'm your hero?
Naaah, I'm just another space nerd.
    But thanks I guess 😄

@Mindflow I actually did the exact same thing you did. Quick saved and reloaded a few times until I got a good landing. Wasn't TOO difficult lol. Thanks for the help guys!

Hey, I'm the player who landed on the mountains slope.
I did that, because when designing the aircraft, I did not expect that the target location would be on top of a mountain and I did not want to fly all the way again with a new design.

In retrospect I would just slap a lot of parachutes on the plane to get it quickly to a full stop.
If you do it that way, don't forget to test that it works as intended!
The cargo container is pretty fragile and I had a few landings, where it just exploded inside the cargo bay, because the landing was too harsh.

Also keep in mind that in order to complete the mission, you must first enter the "sphere" around the location with your craft and ONLY THEN the cargo container can be released to the ground. I don't think it works the other way around.

Here's also the original thread in the steam forums, where I describe my approach a bit more detailed:

    Good luck!!

If you can't go slow enough to make an air drop accurately,
I can assume that you could get away with making a lander you can drop from the plane.
Put the payload in a cargo bay with a commands chip and a few parachutes.
Slap an engine on the bottom for steering in case of a near miss drop.
    Guide the drop yourself.
    Note,
Put parachutes on the plane as well so it lands softly in the mountains and you can collect it's scrap costs

think they said it took them 30 tries or something. Yeah i dunno if you're supposed to air drop it or land elsewhere and have a vehicle ready to go. Perhaps some kind of VTOL craft might work. Seems daunting though!

@Toinkove That sounds tedious, lmao. I’ll give it a try!
