Hi,
So I'm trying to do the first commercial pilot contract which involves bringing a cargo container halfway across the globe and placing it on top of a mountain. I basically made a skeleton plane with fairings as its "cargo bay", and it works decently well. However, when I made my first attempt to land the cargo, I came in a bit too fast and the cargo got destroyed. Thankfully, I had made a quicksave just before descent to avoid having to fly another 15 minutes, but alas, upon reloading the quicksave, the fairings automatically deployed, jettisoning the cargo at 15km altitude with no chance of recovery.
Further testing showed that no matter what, the fairings would always deploy after a reload. (Added empty stage before fairings; Disabled staging altogether; Set staging to a deactivated activation group; etc.)
Is this a known issue or is there a workaround for this, or am I just missing something obvious?
thanks
@Toinkove Thanks for the reply!
I've since redesigned it a bit and found that the issue seems to be linked to another part having a shared connection point with the fairing base. After moving said part and connecting it to a different area, the undesired deployment stopped happening.
