this is basically a Q&A but in reverse lol
anyways, i wanna know what you guys want me to make, change, etc.
you can answer one question, multiple, or all of them, it doesn't matter

  1. what do you guys want me to change in my overall planet building?
is there a terrain noise i use too much or too little? is there an archetype of celestial body that i overuse and have created too much of? do you prefer my planets in the stock scale or the 5x bigger VB/RSS scale?

  2. is there some unique celestial body you want me to recreate?
be it pulsars, black holes, neutron stars, etc.
if you want me to make it, tell me, though some things like magnetars or quasars are impossible to recreate due to game limitations

  3. are you fine with me taking extended breaks?
my mental health has degraded to the point of no return, and it makes sense because i have like 6 system projects to make, plus the fictional story of Hypernova which i somehow gotta make artwork for as well
so, is it okay if i shelve the stuff i wanted to this summer and just chill out for a while, only occasionally posting some crap?
it won't help with anything though and will just make y'all impatient

  4. be honest, do you actually like the stuff i pump out?
because i sure as hell don't lmao
i'm too lazy to make high quality planets so i either take a template and modify it to high hell, or grab the blank template, add 2-3 biomes usually named "lowlands, ("plains/midlands") and "highlands" and the same old monotonous terrain to all of them
i literally just can't be bothered to make good planets anymore, and i'm sure y'all agree that most of the stuff i make is pretty trash

@Zenithspeed In my defence, I saw the topic as evolving :\

@Zenithspeed it’s not a matter of if. When your armour does fail, it will all come down with a force you cannot comprehend. Everything you resist doesn’t make way for new stuff; it simply sits there waiting for the chance to strike. The longer you wait, the fuller the backlog, and you’ll be swamped.

I did this myself. Twice. The first time nearly killed me, and the second time snuffed what humanity I had left and spawned a beta-trial version of PTSD. It took me over a year to break free of my little prison, and the spacing out ceased a month or two after that. The only reason the second meltdown didn’t end me is because I only had five months or so of backlog. Despite this, it still proved quite grave.

If you melt down, you will have no ability to ask for help; if anything, you will deny it because your brain does not want to believe that it is helpless, you won’t want to accept that you are losing yourself. In a final ploy to have any semblance of meaning left, it will shut out all notions of help because it needs to feel strong. This apathy and its accompanying excuses (too late, lack of care, self-depreciation) you are displaying is the alarm you need to heed.

I have been there, and I beg you to not repeat my mistakes. When your will fails, your heart and spirit will be shattered. You must turn it against this growing threat before it’s too late.

@LeMagicBaguette i am aware of my mental issues, i just don't really care about them, and it's too late to fix them anyways
essentially, i know it's a big issue, but won't do much about it because i'm lazy and useless
i won't claim i'm "immune" to my mental issues, i think we can both agree that that is kinda bullfeces, but i'll still be tanking them while i can regardless, if i can no longer tank it i'll just tell my parents or something and then go to a therapist etc etc

@Zenithspeed the way I define it in this context is an apathy towards one mental state and a lack of will to address it. The common excuse is that one is used to the problem, and thus is falsely led to believe that it is a low priority issue if one at all.

Another common thought process is that of perceived immunity. One may believe that this heightened exposure is granting them immunity to its effects, but this is a scenario where one cannot ever hope to tank said effects. This usually leads to a build up, which may ultimately lead to a total mental breakdown. The consequences are sometimes lethal.

@LeMagicBaguette my mental health has been like this for a few years, i've gotten used to it by now

If your mental health is proving to be problematic, get the hell of this platform, stop building things that (according to yourself) you don’t like. Take as much time as you need, maybe practice a funky martial arts, or just vege.

I’m not being harsh, I’m just giving you the best advice I can given that I’ve been there before.

For 3, Take as much time as you need, don’t try to force yourself to do anything you don’t want to, no one is going to hate you for shelving the systems. From my experience planning systems just makes it much harder to make them, whenever you are feeling right just take some time to make a planet or moon or star and spend some time making it, keep doing that and then try to see how those planets can fit into a system. Don’t rush planets or make yourself think “if I don’t release this people are going to be impatient and hate me” no one exept real parasites of human beings are going to hate you for taking a break, and if anyone does hate you for it then tell them to fuck off. Whatever you are going through don’t give up, there is always a light at the end, a better future. Take your time mate. Breathe.

@Zenithspeed You are just suffering from a bit of burnout. Take two months and just fly some missions. After that maybe find a way to make a highly detailed Earth, clouds, night lights, and 3d patch work making one mountain range at a time that can be added to the project over time. That would be a significant achievement.

@Luckwut that clashes with number 4 though
as i said, i'm too lazy to make a planet with a quality higher than "severely modified template" or "generic altitude-based-biome planet"

for question number 3, yea go on, no one going to stop you for having your freedom and please don't stress too much on finishing the system. I suggest you to try spending your time on a single planet project rather than system and you can pour all ideas you want on that single planet, perhaps you'll learn something new doing this and increase the quality of your planet.
