Hi all, is there a vizzy available that allows for a preset landing area that a rocket can target and land on the launch pad? Not going for a boost back but one from orbit let’s say post a moon trip. Hope this makes sense.

TIA

@Cjkb oh, you’re targeting the ship. For that, a landmark does exist, and I think you can target it by its name. If not, then you’ll have to get its LAT LONG co ordinates, then constantly target that.
    Hope this helps,
    Mitya.

@LeMagicBaguette I’m just wondering also, I’m trying to have my new rocket land on a drone ship now like a falcon 9. I have the vizzy up to stage sep and turn retrograde etc and soft land. I just do not know how to make it so it targets the ship and or a burn so it moves the trajectory towards it. Sorry if that doesn’t make sense. Any help would be amazing.

    Thanks
    Chris

@Cjkb the conversion can be tapped or clicked (depending on the device), and several options are seen. In this case, getting LAT/LONG to PCI and PCI to LAT/LONG are under the same converter. Click it, and you should see them sitting one below the other in the drop down menu.

@LeMagicBaguette sorry about that. How do I get the PCI co ordinates? I can get the LAT LONG but I don’t know how to get the PCI. Thanks

@Cjkb if you’re grabbing PCI co ordinates, you don’t need to transpose anything. Your question isn’t quite clear :/

@LeMagicBaguette thanks for your info on this. So to get a pci I guess I could set up a simple vizzy, that will display the PCI then copy those numbers. The only thing I can’t figure out is how I then transpose those to a PCI? I have seen the convert to lat long to a position etc and I have seen the convert local to pci but I’m just a little Mumford on which parts I need to use.

    Thanks in advance

@Cjkb the target must be constantly updated, or it will deflect due to the rotation of the body.

With the PCI co-ordinate, you need to convert it into a LAT LONG if you’re trying to grab a spot on the planet.

@LeMagicBaguette hi, I have managed to do this now and target a LAT LONG as a position however it moves in space. When I target a PCI it is always 6,500+ km directly below me. How do I convert this to a useable position?

If you’re talking about a LAT,LONG co-ordinate, this is possible. You can set target to be a PCI vector translated from a desired LAT,LONG,AGL vector.

As for pre built landing sites, these can be targeted directly from the Map.
