So, hi community. Neat game. Really like it so far, even though most steps have been a struggle to make work, stuck to it until i made it somehow. Like doing the Short Route mission with a Drood in a seat, that one was a challenge because with the early tech it seemd like it was really hard to get a car that could get a non humand up those hills.
Now, i just made my first plane and i gotta say, this shit is weird. I was very surprised that the basic plane from the tutorial with 4 Goblins in the back and 3 small landing gears instead of wheels would actually go up to over 800 m/s. What didn't surprise me was that it was unstable as a feather, but i was still a bit confused why it was this undstable. It basically glitched from ~ 500m/s to 800 m/s, rolling uncrontrollably but apparently not slowing down from the impact.
Now i am pretty sure that it was mostly me not building it aerodynamically correct, but i had to laugh a little when it then without the goblins due to beuing empty suddelny basically stopped ion the air, fell down like a stone and survived the impact. So, i guess my first question is, is the physics calculation of planes kinda meh in order for the player to have a decent chance to survive until it is not because mach 2.5 forces are just a bit too much even for a shitty plane? Or are the physics actually really good and i just don't understand how a plane would perform in this scenario.
And here we come to my second question, coming from KSP and it's plane physics and now trying Juno, i have noticed the same thing. the flying of the planes (with keyboard) seems completely broken. especially with slow speeds, they seem to move liek they way nothing and tons at the same time. I never get the feeling the plane is actually turning, it feels more like it doesn't seem to lose speed doing silly stuff with the rudder. It might be the chase camera that does that, i don't know, it feels really wrong.
Is this me and my weird perceptions or the game?
There is definitely something wrong. I now build a bigger bird, it seems to be completely fine as long as i fly a normal 200 m/s and somewhat straight. When i then try to loop and the bird stalls, the plane starts to twitch and roll uncontrollably. So far so good, might be normal unstable plane behavior looking weird through the chase camera or something. What is physically wrong is that the plane now unexplainedly starts to push towards 700 m/s despite before not really wanting to accelerate very much. Same once i hit an arbitrary speed flying vertically, even without any engine output, the plane suddenly starts wobbling, accellerrating to up to 1000 m/s and if it manages to hit some condition, probably being higher up having less air pressure, the plane is able to stabilize at 400 to 500 m/s just to trigger the issue again upon keeping flying. At some point, it will then probably crash or rip off the wings or a combination of it all.
