Junolink is a satellite constellation that is being designed and manufactured by Fusion Space to provide fast and reliable communications to up to 450 spacecraft in the Droo system. This network will be the backbone of colonisation and spacecraft management!

Satellite Overview

HEIGHT: 0.15m

LENGTH: 1.85m

WIDTH: 1m

WEIGHT: 450kg

Junolink Satellite

Short term goals

Initially, the Junolink constellation will be made up of 4 groups in 4 different inclinations in a 300km Droo orbit. They will provide communications for Fusion Space launch vehicles from liftoff to mission end. Starting in 2025, the network will also provide communications to the Fusion Space collaboration space station and a propellant depot for the next rocket in planning.

Long term goals

In the long term, Fusion Space is hoping to create additional Junolink networks around Luna and Cylero to support colonisation and spacecraft operations. Fusion Space will also create a Junolink terminal that can be purchased by other companies and installed on their own spacecraft. Junolink will not be available to the public.

Launches

Fusion Space has contracted Dynamics to launch ten Junolink missions, and it has already completed the first. Due to the backlog on Fusion Two other launchers will have to be contracted for now.

Collision Risk

Obviously, having so many satellites in low Droo orbit creates a risk of collision, but not to fear! Every satellite has an autonomous avoidance system which will ensure the chance of colliding with anything is near impossible.
