* The ALDEBARAN 4FUTURE Story *
<PART III>
Persons acting
Aldebaran
Cockpit Crew : Commander Randolph P. Erkins, Navigator Major Peter Hopfman and Copilot Kevin Kels
Habitat : Boat cook Klaus Kneller (lower deck)
UMS ÜBERLICHT
Head of the scientific department : Professor Doctor Arthur Comeon
His daughter and assistant : Cinderella Comeon
What has happened so far:
As part of a test and inspection mission, the Aldebaran 4Future first flies to the moon
After a short visit to Monbasis Luna
The Aldebaran returns to the UMS ÜBERLICHT
The UMS ÜBERLICHT is now flying to Earth for further tests with the Aldebaran
Here the Aldebaran manages to fly through the atmosphere
A water landing was also tried out as part of extensive tests
Finally, a successful horizontal landing is made at MAGELLAN Spaceport
After a short stay, the Aldebaran takes off again and flies back to the UMS ÜBERLICHT in Earth orbit
The next destination is MARS.
Here the ÜBERLICHT swings into orbit and the Aldebaran takes off to land on Mars.
2099/07/10 - Mars system, Mars, 1000km above Valles Marineris
Aldebaran, Commander : "UMS ÜBERLICHT, Aldebaran here. We are now directly above the Valles Marineris. Altitude 1000km"
Aldebaran, Navigator : "The view is breathtaking !"
UMS ÜBERLICHT : "Roger Aldebaran"
Prof. Comeon : "This is Professor Comeon of the UMS ÜBERLICHT. Commander, can you hear me?"
Aldebaran, Commander : "Loud and clear Professor"
Prof. Comeon : "Please pay attention to your speed during the landing approach. The Aldebaran is not designed for high speeds in the atmosphere; this also applies to the weak Martian atmosphere !"
Aldebaran, Commander : "Of course Professor, we will pay attention to that"
Prof. Comeon : "Strong winds and sandstorms can also occur in Valles Marineris, so be careful! Comeon over and out"
Aldebaran, Commander : "Roger that. We are now continuing our landing approach. Aldebaran out".
Aldebaran, Navigator : "Hey Rando, I wish Professor Comeon's pretty daughter would worry about us as much as her father does"
Aldebaran, Commander : "You mean Cinderella Comeon Peter?"
Aldebaran, Navigator : "Sure thing. While I'm sitting here sweating at the navigation controls, I could really do with a few kind and encouraging words"
Aldebaran, Commander : "Don't worry Peter. The Aldebaran has taken us through the Earth's atmosphere, it won't fail on Mars"
Aldebaran, Navigator : "Except that there are no rescue units waiting below to pick us up if something goes wrong"
Aldebaran, Commander : "Then we will make sure that nothing goes wrong Peter!"
Aldebaran, Commander : "ÜBERLICHT, this is the Aldebaran. Now go into horizontal mode and land. Altitude 20km"
UMS ÜBERLICHT : "Understood Commander. Good landing!"
Aldebaran, Copilot : "Altitude : Four point eight kilometers"
Aldebaran, Copilot : "Speed : Five hundred and seven kilometers per hour"
Aldebaran, Copilot : "Level of Thrust : Eight point eight percent"
Aldebaran, Copilot : "V Vector inclination angle : Minus five degrees"
Aldebaran, Copilot : "Course : Eighty-five degrees"
Aldebaran, Navigator : "Rando, I found a good landing spot at 12 o'clock, about 10 kilometers away"
Aldebaran, Commander : "I see it Peter, try to land there"
Aldebaran, Commander : "Reduce drift to zero and set up in Valles Marineris"
<KLONG>
Aldebaran, Commander : "Set up. All systems on green"
<JOY ON BOARD>
Aldebaran, Navigator : "Fantastic landing Rando!"
Klaus Kneller : "What was that noise? Are we there yet?"
Prof. Comeon : "Congratulations on the successful landing Commander!"
Aldebaran, Commander : "Many thanks Professor. Everyone on board has done a professional job"
Cinderella Comeon : "That was wonderful Commander Erkins!"
Aldebaran, Commander : "Oh, thank you so much Miss Comeon!"
Aldebaran, Navigator : "Well, didn't I tell you? Nobody thinks of the navigator, of course; but honor to whom honor is due Rando"
Aldebaran, Commander : "Thank you very much Peter. Let's go for a few laps on Mars then, shall we?"
Aldebaran, Navigator : "But of course, that's what we're here for"
Aldebaran, Commander : "UMS ÜBERLICHT, we start with an external inspection of the Aldebaran before continuing our journey"
Aldebaran, Copilot : "I left the cockpit and am now inspecting the outer skin"
Aldebaran, Copilot : "Commander, everything looks good, no damage detected"
Aldebaran, Commander : "All right Kevin, come back into the cockpit now"
Aldebaran, Copilot : "Understood Commander"
Aldebaran, Commander : "UMS ÜBERLICHT, all systems nominally working, now continue exploration on wheels"
