V2-1 launched from the Kalahari Launch Site in central Botswana at around 8:00 CAT, and reached a max altitude of 124 kilometers. It crashed in central Botswana at 8:06 at a speed of 1.2 km/s, some 110 kilometers from KLS
The V-2 rocket was bought from the Americans, along with 2 others, for a total of around 3.3 million USD in 2024.
There was no payload on the rocket, given that it was a simple test to make sure they could operate the rocket. It was considered a success.
There was a massive wave of patriotism among the populus after the launch, and President Seretse Khama congratulated the program and launch.
