So I have a lot of ideas some in my head others already sketched out or in progress. But most of them either end up scrapped or never make it off the drawing board. I imagine this is normal and I know why I scrap most (usually due to things like In game limits or Difficulty in making the craft look acceptable). So currently I'm working on a SS, a Docking port (IDSS), some satellites and a few other things.

I find it very challenging to get inspiration for projects that are realistic to make. Sometimes I get an idea for say an innovative booster–I usually end up scrapping it since there's not enough In real life Things close to it which then leads me to not being able to get it to look good.

So my question is how to you get inspiration for crafts that don't exist in real life. Idk if that's just me but I don't manage to make it look good unless there's an at least rough "blueprint" I can build of off. So how do you do it??

Thanks for reading and answering, have a Great day!

    Usually, when I have an idea for something new, I’ll try to find the closest thing to it in real life. You dig deep enough and there is always something similar, no matter how crazy it is

    @NSCA Actually looks matter most, while yes a unique idea is cool if you build it with just fuel tanks and dont colour nor texture anything it wont get upvotes. And most rockets that look like really good get a ton of upvotes....

    dont care about its looks at first, look at it in multiple angles and draw up plans that make no sense. Then give it a wild personality or a purpose. In the end, I think that the most successful builders find ideas that make no sense and make it a great thing that is different from what others make. Or you could make an existing thing and spend hours making it picture perfect but i consider that just boring.

    @HermesAerospace well, yes 👍.
    .
    No matter how unrealistic/realistic, but the most important thing is that has a purpose and reusable.

    @ergiThe24 Well thats the think usually if you make a craft simple it doesbt really look good/realistic i do watch alot a Hazegrayart vids but he usually just makes it about unrealistic/old ssto concepts and most of them just dont make sense to build, Now generally im not a fan of KSP since all ssto planes look the same since everypne has the same parts

    When i was young (kid), i saw a lot of kerbal spacecrafts from players who made that best. Or, maybe from hazegrayart youtube channel that showing experimental air/spacecraft.

    Those reference was inspired me a lot.

    Also, make it more simpler, reusable, or any that has a purpose.
