yo idk if anyone is still interested in my weather satellite shenanigans, but if you are, I have finally figured out how to receive the METEOR-M 2 (turns out my antenna just sucked), so here's today's picture of Europe as seen by five different imaging sensors on METEOR-M 2 (three on the left) and NOAA 18 (two on the right):
click on the image for full resolution

Also, here's a colour composite of the three channels of METEOR-M 2:

And some more pictures I received since my last post about this on the SimplePlanes forum:

And here's a link to the full album where I put all my captures

If you have no idea what this is, I used a software defined radio together with a VHF antenna and some decoding software to download the images you see above directly from satellites in low earth orbit.
and yea expect another update in several months k bye

You must be so smart! I think we are looking at a space engineer... :) :) :) :)

@MethaManAircraft I want to set up an automatic station with a small computer (such as the Raspberry Pi) to record, decode, and upload the pictures automatically. During a good day, there can about five or six usable satellite passes, each lasting roughly ten minutes.
And by the end of this year, it is possible that a new Russian geostationary satellite will be constantly streaming real-time footage of Europe and Africa

It'd be a really cool project for someone to post a space picture every day (either nasa's or other)!

@AN2Felllla thanks. That's because I'm more focusing on the METEOR-M 2 satellite which transmits digital pictures with a 1km/pixel resolution, while NOAA uses analog transmission and has a three times lower resolution (3km/pix). Also, pictures from NOAA are all false-colour, because it only has two colour channels, while M2 transmits three

@Icantthinkofaname well, there's no curvature visible on the picture, and the satellite is just driving on a track suspended from the dome

@pedro16797 that's what I do when waiting between satellite passes. Sometimes, the Czech Air Force can be heard at frequencies very close to the ones used by the weather satellites

I'd like to see a flat earther try to explain this.

Great photos! I tried with some friends but it was so difficult we ended just listening to plane communications xd
