So, can the message block be used to communicate between spacecraft, ie: coordinate a parallel mass-launch? Or is it just to other command pod/control chips on that craft?

@SupremeDorian don't think so sadly but you can still send a broadcast to turn on the other program just before separation

Most of us used to think it could broadcast to other crafts, but this is unfortunately not the case. One broadcast thing broadcasts to other parts of the Vizzy program, and the other one broadcasts to other parts (including command pods/chips) in the same craft. I'm pretty sure separated parts still classify as within the same craft, so automated stage landings should be possible.
