If you want to help us beta test you can grab the beta branch and start testing. You can look at the Roadmap to see the items that we have claimed to have fixed in this release, so those would be great things to test. Thanks!

Key New Features

  • Electric Motor - I'm honestly shocked by how fun it is to play with.
  • Flight View Inspector - Now you can see a lot more data about your craft in flight.
  • Map View Improvements - Big performance improvements and big improvements to encounter prediction and stability.

How to get the beta

  • Open the Steam client and go to your Library
  • Right click SimpleRockets 2 and click Properties
  • Go to the BETAS tab
  • Select beta - Public Beta Testing from the beta dropdown

@AndrewGarrison by the way, I know you're unfathomably busy, but the website could really use a Rules page when you have time.

Okay, new build is out (v0.6.7.2). The electric motor bug should be fixed. You may need to log out of the Steam client and log back in before it realizes there's an update.

Okay, thanks for the bug reports. I'm doing a new build now and will have it out shortly to fix the issue with the motor part.

@oDDDx This is the first I've heard of it. What issues are you having? If you submit a bug report after you have the issue, I can investigate.@mjdfx150529

@AndrewGarrison cool! I cannot report a bug now but it might be related to "Fixed a bug where the delta-v calculation was wrong in the game flight view if multiple engines shared a fuel tank." that made wrong propellant % in UI when activating and stopping motors. I'll do a proper report if needed soon (I have a bussy week).

@AndrewGarrison Thanks for your work but another bug: Flight view Isp don't change at any altitude(Atmospheric pressure or thrust efficiency, whatever)

Just released another beta. Version 0.6.7.1 with a few new changes:

    • Fixed a bug where motors wouldn't apply torque to Resizable Wheels.
    • Added Invert on Mirror to input controller's part properties.
    • Fixed a bug where the wheel parking brake joint would stick to the ground even when hovering above the ground.
    • Fixed a bug where inspector panels would not hide with F-10.
    • Fixed a bug where the level UI did not hide when taking a screenshot.
    • Fixed a bug where the camera could not zoom in on craft when the craft was below 1 meter on Cylero.
    • Fixed the pivot attachment where the top cords meet the base.
    • Fixed bugs related to getting precise SOI entry point.
    • Fixed bug where time to periapsis is wrong for hyperbolics.
    • Fixed a bug where the delta-v calculation was wrong in the game flight view if multiple engines shared a fuel tank.

Looking at the road map I think lights and jet engines need to be next on the list. I think we should have same things as SP.

The latest upgrade is interesting, but there's a "but"... I've reported this before but so far nothing seems to have been done about it, so now I'm going to mention it here.

The Burn Gizmo is pretty useless. The problem is when I pull on the prograde marker to - for example - get to Luna, I might be close to where an encounter would be indicated when suddenly the projected new flight path immediately jumps back to halfway between Luna and Droo. The projected time of burn or Dv requirements DON'T change, so to extend the gizmo back towards Luna adds more of these to the estimate burn perimeters. And this can happen several times while planning the one burn!

I've mentioned before that I've reported this bug using the proper facility, and when I read you had been working on the Burn Gizmo, I hoped you may have addressed this issue also. But it was not to be unfortunately...

Has anyone else had trouble with this bug?

@Nikaloopairways Career mode most likely won't be coming until full release, which is supposed to be some time in 2019.

This update sounds really fun! Thanks! Any hint on when career mode is coming out. Maybe you could have an option for limited or unlimited money in the career mode. Also, some radar dishes would be nice.
