Hey guys,
So I've been working on an unmoded SSTO that can take a small payload into space. But I've encountered an issue. You see, I use a cargo bay to hold the payload. And I use a side interstage to detach the payload from the SSTO. The side interstage is set to 0% detachment force so that the payload won't spin as it comes out of the cargo bay. But, because there is no force on the interstage, the payload doesn't come out at all. So my question is, how can I do a small burn that moves my payload perpendicular to the SSTO while remaining parallel in orientation to it? I've tried using RCS nozzles and enabling translation mode, but nothing has been working (also, my apologies for the excessive use of the word payload! XD)

@sumeee Hmm...no good. Any combo of WSADQE, translation mode, and heading lock/unlock yields nothing. It just changes my heading and/or pitch.

@CodeCube The ASWDQE controls work for me... toggle RCS on/off again

@sumeee Got you, thanks. Just one thing left now. What controls do I use to perform this burn? If I toggle translation mode, ASWDQE don't seem to work. All it does in change my heading and/or pitch. I want to move, not change orientation.

@CodeCube I made a slight change to your image to demonstrate how to place correctly the RCS: https://imgur.com/a/yMyIood
Note: "a" should be equal to "b"

@CodeCube Here is a comment I made on how to correctly place RCS on a craft: https://www.simplerockets.com/Forums/View/5139/How-to-rendezvous-and-other-informative-information-for-absolute-beginners?showAllComments=true#comment-22931
This is just a simple example on how to place the RCS nozzles. Unfortunately complex nozzles placement is very hard right now (almost impossible) because we don't have any UI tools to let us visualize the torque induced by RCS.
Another tip that I can give you is that you can use "Lock Current Heading" while performing the translation maneuver.

@Tully2001 Alright, will do. However, I'm still at a bit of a loss. I would assume I would need to use RCS nozzles to create a small thrust on one side of the payload. But I get rotation instead. Like this: https://imgur.com/a/1IxfJ4p What are the parts and techniques I need to use to get the type of burn I want?
