Hi Everyone,

Well, I guess we didn't make the optimistic "Next Week" schedule, but there is good reason for this! From being a minor patch similar to 2.1, the current work in progress version is quickly turning into quite a serious overhaul and bug fixing update to the Enhanced Solar System.

Current Changelog:

Feature: Custom Skybox
Ilithos: Complete rework
Droo: 2 New Bases and 2 Landing Platform Vessels, Clouds (seen from orbit only), and colour/biome tweaks.
Urados: Edited colour bands
Tydos: Edited colour bands (WIP)
Taurus: Fixed Atmosphere and completed opaque atmosphere visuals, reduced size & made "more extreme" terrain
Cylero: Dusty Atmosphere visuals
Hados: Better detail and colour variation
Orcus: Fixed Atmosphere
Juno: Appearance and colour rework
All Moons: Complete gravity value overhaul, allowing orbiting of all bodies

We're also doing a lot of XML maintenance and optimisation, plus the ongoing transition to the new planetary system/celestial body sharing method. The initial 3.0 release was a bit of a "guinea pig" for this area of the website, so hopefully with 3.1 we can consolidate ESS once again. The game developers are planning a new beta version within the near future which will correct many of the issues that have been effecting players, we are probably going to release sometime after this. I cant give any exact dates though!

    @TOMJeb117 Yup, although 3.1 Droo will go a long way towards making this a reality it would be really good to have them properly rendered from the ground!

    @OldCoach Things are changing fast in the planetary editing field, so this may be possible eventually. However, custom models will probably be used for easter eggs or more generalised structures if they become available, as cities will be about the most performance draining use of them.

    A nice addition for a future release would be cities on Droo. It would probably be a major update.

    @ICESA Droo doesnt have rivers because its impossible to generate them without using images as biome/terrain maps. Using images increases lag and RAM requirements, and also increases the download size of the system. Another reason is that coastlines and water-land borders are a source of z-fighting and glitches.
