Question about light brightness

I'm building a ship, and I'm trying to make sure the interior lighting is even. However it seems like some of the lights are dimmer than others, despite being connected to batteries with solar panels. Do solar panels send electricity to all lights/batteries equally, or do fuel lines and amount of lights connected to a battery determine brightness? In general, how does power work with lights, and what should I do to make the lighting even?
