I have an idea for a new game mode named: Space race. I'd like to pitch it in the forums for a public opinion.
Okay, here it is:
The player will have a limited budget and will have to compete against an AI that will have it's own pre-set space ships/rockets.
The goal will be to complete the mission, whether it's setting up a satellite and landing on the moon, more efficiently and effectively than the bot. This can be measured by how much money is used; takeoff/landing quality, etc.
As the levels increase (up to level 10 or 20, depending on difficulty) You will be able to use better parts (such as more efficient, more expensive engines) at a slightly higher budget to complete more complicated tasks, such as docking on multiple ships, landing on other planets, completing successful orbit in the meteor belt, etc. while still trying to beat the bot.
While doing so, the bot would have around 2/3 ships to beat at each stage, and one will be randomly selected, all will complete the specific task, at different times w/ similar results, but different success rates.
In the end, the system will find who won the space race by tallying who got the most wins. If it's a tie, the final level will feature infinite budget, with the goal to get to the outer-most planet at the fastest amount of time possible, while carrying a couple of tonnes of cargo. Whoever gets there first, wins the whole thing.
That's it, any opinions?
