Upvotes are precious. I see a lot of people build crafts that they spend maybe 5mins on and get 10 upvotes. I saw a thanks for 2000 that got 12 upvotes and it was literally just someone grabbed the text tool and wrote “2000”. When I scroll thought the newest tab every couple of days I only upvote the crafts that people have truly worked for and ones that I couldn’t do myself. I also see crafts with 0 upvotes that clearly deserve more and crafts with 15 that deserve 3. I upvote those that deserve more or are truly talented.
The upvote has lost its value.
I’m making this not in the hopes to change the community (because that is impossible) but to try and share my opinion on this game I truly love to play and I hope it will become more fair to those that spend time building great concepts and contraptions and not those that make the most stupid and basic things to upvote farm.
Thank you for reading if you did and again I’m not trying to change the community’s mind I’m merely voicing my opinion.
TLDR: upvote crafts that actually deserve it and don’t upvote farm but making dumb crafts to get points.
I very agree to u.
You try @Doublehsh
@INTERCEPTOR2021 huh that's weird
I commented but the comment suddenly dissapears @Doublehsh
@INTERCEPTOR2021 of course
Can I comment on the German... thing?@Doublehsh
Don’t upvote point celebrations
-Confucius
@BagelPlane ngl I still like it tho
@TriStar lmao I still can't believe it has no comments
@geotorum same here
@NaONCo2HCH2 lol I played sp before I played sr2 but never really uploaded on it
in addition if you se a 30 point beginner making huge beautiful craft, screw points, upvote because of use. dont upvote just because they have points, up[vote the craft
@geotorum it’s the German Corsair incident of 2020. Crappy plane gets sponsored by Belugasub and gains popularity, eventually collecting 300+ upvotes.
@Cyan how does that have 350 upvotes?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!???!?!?!!?!!?!??!??!!?!?!?!!
It pains me to say this but you are absolutely correct, however, having a group of people who follow each other often leads to a higher upvote count that gravitates further upvotes so it's better to interact with people who have similar gaming and or design philosophies. Most of the people I interact with play for very short spells and need to be away for long periods, including me lol. That is why I only stick to experimental crafts and technology demonstrators when I get the time.
Awesome post. Over on SP we have some experience with this type of stuff
Good job,u said out many players' heart sound.
Yeah. I’ve remade my 1k’s SSTO and only get one upvote after 3hour @HSH
Good job!
@Arstotzka same here.
i upvote for generosity, and i also upvote things that arent total garbage (no offense guys :/) so i dont rly like things then no upvote (at least im not as picky as everyone else)
This is true. Before I started growing like crazy within the last few months, I saw many crafts that were extremely low effort and got tons of upvotes. I truthfully don’t care about points as much as others, but it still found motivation in points, to show others what I work on in my free time... if that makes sense. Points give players leverage to show others what they make, that’s why I hung around 500 points for a while, until I finally started to REALLY grow.
TL;DR: People with points are silencing other, smaller players
Upvotes never had a value greater than yourself put in.
It is not an indication for originality, nor skill, it just gives incentives to players to work on popular things.
I personally find the point system pointless (haha) and quite ugly because I hate social networks who use love/upvote for reasons I could talk about for long. ( for short it plays on self satisfaction, comparison with others players points, and shift a possible healthy competition from pure crafting skills to something more like "communication skill".)
On the other hand, for some players, community recognition is important and upvotes can give a feeling of this. Note that I regularly upvote crafts to encourage creations, so despite my criticism I'm not boycotting the system.
Well 6 upvotes on a craft that took me through hell is not enough
It seems that this is just how life works, work put in ≠ reward. That said i think its good to try to remember that this isnt about money or anything, its just internet points and for a lot of people it actually is a display of the amount of effort and care they put into their posts.
