The Falcon 9 is a partially reusable medium-lift launch vehicle developed by SpaceX. The first stage of the Falcon 9 is reusable and has 4 landing legs on the bottom of the first stage for landing back down on either land or a droneship floating the ocean. It also has 4 gridfins on the top of the first stage for guiding itself down to its landing pad. It uses 9 Merlin 1D Sea-level engines made by SpaceX. The second stage of the Falcon 9 isn’t reusable. It uses a Merlin 1D Vacuum engine also made by SpaceX. On top of the second stage is the payload fairing that protects the payload during launch.
