"Dongfanghong-1" satellite is the first man-made earth satellite launched by China. It was successfully launched from jiuquan satellite launch center on April 24, 1970, ushering in a new era in China's space history and making China the fifth country in the world to independently develop and launch a man-made earth satellite after the Soviet union, the United States, France and Japan.
