The J-35A is a 5-generation fighter designed for the PLA air force. It was officially published days before the 2024 "Airshow China", and it gave short performances in the airshow. (To my disappointment, it just flew over the airport and went away. A friend of mine went to the airshow day after my visit, however, due to the bad weather, the J-35A didn't even come.)
The overall story started a decade ago. On Halloween in 2012, the FC-31 took off for the first time. Two years later, it appeared in the airshow, looking for export orders. It was believed that in 2018, the navy started founding the project for a carrier-based jet, and the air force joined a year later. In 2022, the photo of J-35 was published online. The navy version has an extended wing, just like the F-35C does. Later, the photos of the air force version started to pop out.
The relationship between FC-31 and J-35 is not clear now. Some believes that J-35 is a new design. Also, there has been long-term arguments on whether it is better than J-20, should it be deployed on aircraft carrier, and whether the air force need it. (Both J-20 and J-35, according to the official, are "designed for air superiority", which may be duplicated construction. Yet the official also said that the plane is also capable for strike mission against ground targets.)
This work is based on existing photos. This version has improved nose design, making it more like a stealth fighter. Yet there may be some details which are not the same with the real plane. Also notice that the plane is still taking test flights, and prototypes vary in details, for example, the horizontal stablizer.
