This aircraft is based on NASA 930 and 931, two lightly modified KC-135 aircraft that were used to simulate zero-G conditions. This was achieved by going into a steep climb followed by a steep dive, which created weightlessness at the crest of the arc. NASA's last KC-135, 931, was retired in 2004, and was replaced by a C-9.
